I agree with your statement that there can not be a single governing body for social media. If there was some kind of control over who was able to add content to the internet then it might be possible, but because anyone with the ability to contribute information can and does so, there would be no way to control that, unless the ability to contribute information was limited which would defeat the purpose of the internet.

I think we see examples every day of how people are forming closer bonds with technology than they are with people. We become dependent on our devices because we are used to them providing us with almost nothing we want. The trouble begins we people start choosing technology over people.

Mobile location based advertising is an marketing company's dream. Ads can now reach us where ever we go. And by attaching advertising to a game, such a four square, users are more likely to pay attention to that advertising whereas in the past, if an advertiser were to contact us by phone or mail we would have viewed it as an annoyance.

How to keep your original customers happy but attract new customers is a delicate balance. The end goal with pretty much any business is to make more money and to do that you need to attract new customers. But in trying to attract new customers, companies run the risk of alienating their original customers, the ones who helped make the business a success in the first place. I thought it was interesting to show that in their attempt to attract new players, the creators of WoW seem to be forgetting that one of the main attractions of playing WoW was the sense of community created among the players.

I think that as long as we continue to divide ourselves in real life, we will continue to divide ourselves online, regardless if everyone has the access and the knowledge to contribute information. And maybe the divisions we create online is a way to stand out and to be noticed. While it's easy to project a false identity for yourself online, I think that eventually your true identity will come through, even if one aspect of your identity is highlighted more than others. I don't think this means that you are projecting a false identity but perhaps it's an attempt to highlight a part of your personality that you feel gets overlooked in real life.
